A city of approximately 20,000, Fort Walton Beach can trace its roots back almost 1000 years. Prehistoric settlement of Fort Walton Beach is attributed to the mound building "Fort Walton Culture" that flourished from approximately 1100~1550 AD. Today, the city sits between the massive Eglin Air Force Base and vacation destinations of Okaloosa Island and Destin.
